7 Productive Things to do during Quarantine?

If you’re reading this, you’re one of the million warriors of earth-saving her and your loved ones from the wraith of the coronavirus. You’re probably reeking of boredom in the ‘not-so-comfort’ of your home. You are scared, you’re tired and you’re frustrated.

Initially, you must’ve been excited. You probably had a lot of things to do, like, catch-up on that sleep, finish that Netflix show or clean up that wardrobe. You were probably able to read some good books because you now don’t have to spend your time rattling behind your desk. But as you slowly start to realize that this mighty virus is here to stay for a long time, you might be also feeling a little non-productive lately. Here are a few tips to help you carve your way through boredom and monotony:

Read. The written word is perhaps the greatest invention of human-kind. Put it to good use! Grab that book you’ve been avoiding, sit on your couch with a warm cup of tea, and read away.

Meditate. How difficult is it when you reach home from a stressful day at work to finally sit and meditate for ten good minutes? Now away from the hurly-burly of traffic and work, you’re way calmer and sorted. Grab this opportunity, sit down, and put your mind to ‘quiet.’ It should be easy.

Plant. For those of you who are into plants and gardening, now would be a perfect time to brighten your outdoors. Just because you are indoors doesn’t mean that you can’t get out into that balcony and get started on your own garden.

“An ordinary man sees everything as a blessing or a curse. A warrior sees everything as a challenge.”

Eat. There can be nothing better than healthy, home-cooked food. Trust us, we are not joking! The quarantine can be the perfect time to not only better your body but also a treat to your gastronomical cravings.

Exercise. Since there are no gyms open and you strictly adhere to your sweet home, go ‘desi-authentic’ with this one. Yoga has been known to have benefits beyond the stretching and strengthening of your muscles. Take online classes, YouTube yoga or simply do it yourself.

Connect. Call those family members you’ve been avoiding for a long time. In extraordinary times, a little love can re-assure you and them too.

Organize. We don’t realize the effect of clutter on our mental health. Often, too much clutter around us can make us feel unhappy and sad. We are rarely home to effectively de-clutter our homes. Due to the lockdown, however, the time you’re at home sounds like… now!

Although the lockdown and quarantine are temporary, it looks like we will be hibernating for a decent amount of time. Keeping away from panic and fear may be the best thing for us to do. It is best to keep ourselves occupied and productive during this lockdown. Stay strong, stay safe, stay vigilant and most importantly, stay home!
